Cappadocia and Ephesus 3 days
Hike through the Red and Rose Valleys in Cappadocia, visit an Underground City and admire the magnificent Greco-Roman Ephesus and the Temple of Artemis
Day 1 - Cappadocia (lunch)
We will pick you up from Kayseri – Nevsehir airport or from your hotel in Cappadocia. We start our full day tour of Cappadocia with a visit to Goreme panorama point which has a stunning view of Goreme Village and drive down into the Goreme Open Air Museum a unique collection of churches and chapels boasting the best examples of Byzantine art in Cappadocia. Then we visit Ortahisar, a typical village with its rocky outcrop fortress and citrus caves and drive to Pasabag, (Monks Valley) which has mushroom like formed rocks and very interesting fairy chimney forms. We pass through the Imagination valley, Devrent, where you see all sorts of animal shapes in the rocks. We stop for lunch at a local restaurant.
In the afternoon, we walk along the Red River at Avanos which is the longest river of Turkey and visit the famous pottery workshops. Here, you will have a chance to see how the pottery is made and if you like you may also have a go. At the end of the day, we return to your hotel passing through Love Valley which has incredible view. Arrival at your hotel, free time and overnight in Cappadocia cave hotel.
Day 2 - Cappadocia (breakfast, lunch)
Pick up from hotel around 09:30 by your driver and guide guide and join your second Cappadocia Tour. Today we visit Uchisar Castle which is huge rocky outcrop dating from Roman times and used as a fortress by many civilizations. We hike about 4 km in Red Valley and and Rose Valley admiring along the way the little churches hidden in the valley where early Christians practiced their faith in hiding. At the end of our hike we arrive at Cavusin village which has some interesting cave dwellings and old Greek houses. Lunch in a local restaurant. In the afternoon, your guide will take you down Kaymaklı Underground City as the used by refugees or people fleeing persecution and marauders. Whole populations descended underground and hid for months with their livestock and food stores. Pigeon Valley where you see how the pigeone houses have been carved out of the rock. Our last visit is to the Three Beauties of Ürgüp, the symbol of Cappadocia. At the end of the tour, transfer to airport to take a flight to Izmir. (Some days direct some days via Istanbul flight) After your arrival to airport, pick up at the exit of first gate by our agent. Transfer to your hotel in Kusadasi / Selcuk.
Day 3 - Ephesus (breakfast, lunch)
After breakfast at the hotel, pick up by the tour guide around 09:00 and starting to Ephesus Tour. Visits to Artemis Temple which used to be one of the 7 wonders of ancient world, Ephesus Ancient City, Hadrian Temple, Celcius Library, Theater, Hamams and Old Harbour. Midday, lunch break in a local restaurant. Last visit to House of Virgin Mary where Mary spent her last years, this is a holy place for Muslims and Christians alike. At of the tour, transfer to airport to take a flight to Istanbul or on to other places to enjoy the rest of your vacation.
